Essential Oils For Anti Aging

The trend for to choose natural alternatives for mind and body over medication is on the rise. Aromatherapy is one the alternative medicines that can be used to treat minor ailments, for physical and physiological treatments and skin care. Essential oils are very vesatile and also have their place in anti aging.

Over the past two issues of Rejuvenate we were looking into Stress and Sleep and how it effects the aging process. These are just two issues that can be helped with Aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy uses essential oils that are extracted from plants, roots, barks, flowers etc. Essential oils are very powerful and care should be taken to not use neat and too much at a time.

The key is to choose pure essential oils as well as the right oils for the right conditions. Synthetic versions are useless to say the least.

If you are new to Aromatherapy and would like to try it without having to buy a whole range of different essential oils, here is a few recommendations that make a good starter kit:

  • Lavender
    The all-round essential oil. It’s antiseptic and very relaxing. Helps against stress and insomnia.

  • Frankincense
    A great anti aging skin oil as it assists in strengthening the collagen and elastin fibres

  • Rose
    Soothing on nerves against stress. On skin it reduces inflammation. Excellent for sensitive skin

  • Ylang Ylang
    Helps stress and anxiety. Aphrodisiac Can be used on all skin types, antiseptic.

All essential oils above can be blended each other to enhance the effect or for a different aroma. Try different flavours and have fun with it.
