Anti Ageing Creams For Oily Skin
I will be forty years in feb 2008, I have oily skin and tend to breakout easily. I need a good cream for wrinkles that will not make me breakout. I have tried so many over the counter products but nothing worked. I was thinking of trying a product called lifecell and wanted to know if you know anything about it. I have gone for botox and it worked but it is expensive. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you so much. Gina
Daniela’s Beauty Advice
Dear Gina, you can be fortunate to have oily skin, as it tends not to age as early as other skin types. However, at the same time, it is hard to find the right anti ageing cream for oily skin as they can make you break out, just like you’ve experienced.
I have not heard of lifecell before, I did do a google search and found out a bit about it. It seems to me that it is based on Idebenone, which is nothing but a form of the Coenzyme Q10, a powerful antioxidant. You can find other cream that are based on idebenone, such as Prevage from Elizabeth Arden or other brands that are less expensive. Lifecell seems very overpriced.
Since you’ve tried many different products already, I suggest to sort out your skin conditions first. If you do not already, start taking a complete nutritional supplement with all vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The supplements will help for a beautiful skin from within. Vitamin C for example helps in the production of collagen, while Vitamin E helps in balancing any skin conditions. There you have your Q10 from the inside too, which helps in cell repair and renewal. I also recommend to take Essential Fatty Acids (either fish oil or flaxseed omega3’s) as they will help in balance the oil flow of your skin.
Also make sure to eat a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies as well as your 8 glasses of water a day.
Just by doing this, you’ll see a difference in your skin’s appearance, oiliness and wrinkles within a few weeks.
As for the anti ageing cream for oily skin, I recommend to use a gentle purifying cleanser and toner to remove excess oil (but not too harsh, as you don’t want to strip your skin of all the oil) and follow with a oil-balancing moisturiser. Exfoliate 1 to 2x per week and use a deep-cleansing mask once a week. This will help to control your oily skin. To target wrinkles for oily skin, I recommend to use a targeted serum rather than a cream. The problem with anti ageing creams is, that most of them are only suitable for a dry/mature skin and are too heavy for oily skin.
Use the anti aging serum, like the miessence firming eye and neck serum, after cleansing and toning under your oil-balancing moisturiser.
I only recommend organic anti ageing creams, as I do not believe in applying chemicals to the skin that are damaging to the health and accelerating the aging process. You can see the organic products I work with at my online store.
If you find that this is not enough, I recommend to use a facial treatment like red light therapy. A photon red light therapy unit will not only help against wrinkles, but also treat acne scars, oily skin, pigmentation and more. You can use it at home as an ongoing treatment which will save you money on expensive salon treatments and it is completely natural. Read more about Anti Aging Red Light Therapy
