Can allergies to eye creams develop from continual use?

I am 25, and use the eye cream more of prevention than a "fixer" - because when I smile I have deep smile lines -- maybe I don't even need it, but I've always been told to prevent, prevent, prevent! So, I've tried several brands of eye cream - expensive and non-expensive. I've used eye cream for about 3 years, several different brands, and I never had a problem. Recently, however, when I apply any eye cream, my skin around my eyes burns. I thougt it might be that brand, so I tried others... and they all do the same thing. Have I developed and allergy, and if so should I just never use eye cream?
Hi there, it is very likely that you have developed an allergy to an ingredient in your eye cream.
To prevent is definitely better than treat and I believe you have done the right thing to use eye creams from an early age.
The lines you get when you laugh are normal and you cannot avoid them unless you get botox. The difference is when you're age, that these lines will not go away. The skin doesn't bounce back and the lines stay.
Since you're still have about 10 years before you have to worry about that, I would suggest to not use eye creams for a while until your skin settles down and is not sensitive to ingredients anymore. I feel that if you continue to use powerful eye creams you may make more damage to the skin than any good.
I recommend to use a simple aloe vera gel that will keep the skin hydrated and not aggravate the allergy. Aloe Vera Gel should be available in supermarkets and drugstores.
All the best and let me know if you have any more questions.
