China Blacklists 10 Cosmetic Products

10 domestically made cosmetic products that contain chemicals have been blacklisted by the Ministry of Health in China by the latest attempted to crack down on product quality.

The chemicals used in these products are dexamethasone, which initially improves the skin, but over time can cause skin atrophy, become thin and dark and lead to skin diseases.

The products blacklisted are 9 types of lotions, gems, anti-allergy essence and masks produced by Guangzhou Shimei Cosmetics Co Ltd and an anti-allergy moisture mask produced by Gelamei Cosmetic Co Ltd, both based in Guangdong Province, Xinhua.

It is not known what was involved in the blacklist designation or if any product recalls are required. It is also not known whether any of the products have been exported.
