Young keeps young
Keeping the weight off, doing sun salutes and indulging in free-radical fighting anti-oxidants may already be on your anti aging agenda. Now, you can add another longevity booster to your list: spend more time with young people.
Interestingly, a study of short-lived sod flies, a type of fruit fly, found that interacting with younger members of the species contributed to longer life. The research of the University of Iowa revealed, that flies raised with younger control flies lived twice as long as those who lived with same-aged or older flies. They also responded better physically and were more capable of dealing with environmental stress.
Other, human based investigations, indicate that patients who suffer from neurological age-related diseases, such as dementia, can potentially benefit from being placed in a younger social environment. So concludes study author and Professor of Biology, Chun-Fang Wu.
